displays a strong cat’s eye for a beryl.

6.1x5.4x4.2 mm, translucent, from Sri Lanka. An attractive, carat size, chrysoberyl
cabochon with a strong cat’s eye.

14898 Feldspar CE, Dk Pinkish Brown, 8.54 cts oval cabochon measuring
13.6x10.5x8.5 mm, translucent, from Tanzania. We were originally sold these cat’s eye
gems as labradorite cat’s eye. A recent article in Gem and Gemology indicates that they
are actually a potassium rich member of the feldspar family.

incl, from China. An inexpensive scapolite cat’s eye that displays a fair eye.

14902 Sillimanite CE, Dk Purplish Gray, 2.69 cts oval cabochon measuring 9.2x6.8x4.4
mm, v lt incl, from India. These gems when found in India are referred to as sillimanite
but when found in Sri Lanka are called fibrolite. Although both names apply to the same
mineral we use the name commonly applied where the gems were mined. A fine, dark,
purplish gray gem with a very strong cat’s eye.
