We have heard that the deposits near Charcas in the state of San Luis Potosi have not produced any new danburite in many years and although a huge amount was produce at the time it is gradually declining in availability. This is a very well cut gem of fine clarity.

We had been under the impression that the deposit of pezzottaite had been exhausted, however, we were told at the recent gem show in Denver that they saw some new production in Tucson this year. Either way it is a very rare gem coming from only one location in Madagascar and we are looking forward to finding some during out trip to Madagascar in November.

It is both brittle and heat sensitive making not only the cutting process difficult but also the cleaning and dopping. We once heard of an anglesite cracking once it had been cut when the acetone that was evaporating off its surface heat shocked it.

mm, eye clean, from Mexico. Up until a few years ago apatites from
the Lake Jaco

with clear areas for cutting and had this gem cut from one of them.
This gem is actually a bicolor with half being a medium golden brown
and the other half a dark brown.
