4851 Sphene,
Md Brownish Yellow, 3.69 cts oval cut measuring 10.4×8.0x5.1 mm, v lt incl, from India. During the early 1990’s we saw a number of gems originating in the Orissa province of India enter the market.  Sphene was one that made an appearance and almost as quickly disappear.  This gem came from that original discovery.

V Dk Orangish Brown, 2.31 cts emerald cut measuring 13.5×5.2×2.5 mm, lt incl, from Brazil.  Staurolite is a fairly common, metamorphic mineral that rarely occurs in facet grades.  Brazil is the only source we know of that produces rough that can be faceted.

Dk Reddish Brown, 4.31 cts fancy freeform cut measuring 11.2×9.8×6.5 mm, v lt incl, from Brazil.  Triphylite is a lithium phosphate mineral that rarely occurs as cuttable.  The gems from Brazil display quite a color shift acquiring a red hue under incandescent light.
