The stars in gemstones are caused by reflections off tube-like silk aligned in two or three directions causing four or six ray stars. A number of different gem species exhibit star to different degrees. Some of the stars are strong such as those found in the finest star sapphires while some are weak. Few if any resemble the intense stars found in synthetic star Linde sapphires. Keep this in mind and realize that Mother Nature creates few things that are perfect.
